First as I disclosed in the title I am a former agent. Let me start by saying that I worked with several good men during my time with the Knights, who's hearts truly were in the right place.

That being said, the structure of their insurance business based in New Haven is a sham to be kind. My original general agent retired and was replaced with a gentleman with very questionable ethics. Certain, not all agents were forced to pay an office fee or rent to work for him. Bear in mind, we made no base salary and many newer agents were attempting to build a business. Many of us were often ridiculed by this man.

An example of such behavior was when I was told I was not a real man because my wife worked. Yes, that's what he said... more then once. Finally after complaining to his superiors I had my most profitable council stripped away from me and replaced with a council of far fewer members.

Later I learned that my general agent had written two fairly substantial policies in my assigned council and rather then crediting me, listed his father in law as the writing agent. I confirmed this with KOFC customer service. I immediately informed Chief Insurance Officer Tom Smith. He did nothing.

I was hung out to dry and he protected this tiny fraction of a man he promoted to general agent.

The hierarchy of the Knights of Columbus are not Catholic gentlemen or men of any kind of honor. I urge anyone who does business with them to do their due diligence and really get to know their individual field agent before moving forward.

Sounds like you are from New Jersey...you are lucky to be out of this place. Once a great insurance company...it is now a *** show.

General Agents in the "good old boys club" are running the company. Membership is dying and churches are empty,,,"fughetaboutit !"

Our case is much worse and directly connected to the KofC.

Why are they diminishing retiree benefits - to make up for their mismanagement mistakes? Reduce the big shots benefits.
